What age group will my child play in?
Pensacola Youth Soccer comprises dozens of teams over six age groups. Don’t worry — there’s no math involved. All you need to know is your child’s birthday. We’ll take care of the rest.
First, the minimums: A child must turn 4 years old by Jan. 1, 2020, to participate in Pensacola Youth Soccer. (We love our littles, but there’s got to be a cutoff, and that’s it.) Meet that requirement? Then it’s time to find your age group.
Here’s how it breaks down:
Born in 2015? Your child is in the Under-5 group.
Born in 2014? Your child is in the Under-6 group.
Born in 2013-12? Your child is in the Under-8 group.
Born in 2011-10? Your child is in the Under-10 group.
Born in 2009-08? Your child is in the Under-12 group.
Born in 2005-07? Your child is in the Under-15 group.
Players in the U-5 through U-10 age groups will practice once a week with their coach, and once a week in the player clinics, where they will receive extra individual-skills training. Under-12 and Under-15 teams practice twice a week.
Also: It’s OK to play up one age group. If you’ve got a child who has been playing longer and needs a greater challenge on the field, it’s something to consider. But except for in very rare circumstances, playing down an age group is not allowed.
